Why connect with others?
Our intention with the 1902 Club is simple: to create a network of professional women with leadership in sight, to foster relationships and build social capital that will drive success and achievement for these women. Let’s expand your knowledge and network.
Join other Melbourne women like you to connect meaningfully in a way that can help you drive your career and personal development. We have a passion for connecting people, and we recognise the value of having a supportive community of women that you meet with once a month to discuss, share and explore new ideas.
Why the name 1902 Club?
‘Suffragettes’ was a term used around the world to describe all women who campaigned for the right to vote in elections.
In Australia in 1902, women were granted suffrage in federal elections, as well as being permitted to stand for federal parliament. (Women were afforded the right to vote in state elections at a similar time, in a staggered timeframe).
Over one hundred years later, we continue to fight towards equality and every single one of us has a role to play in this. We believe it is critical to remember the past and look back at the achievements of the great women before us, and to appreciate the trails they blazed for us. We can then build on the progress they made to help propel us further into the future.
